On a Mission...
My name is Jessica and I am on a mission to help fight hunger. As a 3 year member of the Live Oak High School Future Business Leaders of America, I was involved in various community service activities and school improvement projects. I recently graduated from San Jose State University with a Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management. As one of my final senior projects, I created and organized the "Cans for a Cause" canned food drive which was similar to the food and toy drives I participated in as a member of the Live Oak FBLA organization. Last year's event was an amazing success and we collected over 3,400 canned food items. This year, I am working to involve more of the community and collect over 4,000 canned food items.
Mission:
To create unity within my community through a fun filled volunteer experience while helping to feed the underprivileged families of the Morgan Hill Unified School District this holiday season.
Goals:
- Identify 36 volunteers and various sponsors excited to join the fight against hunger
- Reach out to at least 700 families through flyers distributed to each home
- Collect at least 4000 canned or nonperishable food items for donation to the Live Oak FBLA organization
- Provide a memorable and enjoyable experience for all of the volunteers
